Who We Help

Help in Sarasota for Families and Executors Settling a Loved One's Home

Being responsible for a loved one's home in Sarasota is a job most people take on while they're grieving, working, and handling everything else an estate asks of them. We take on the physical work of the estate cleanout so you can focus on the decisions only you can make.

What we hear

What executors and families tell us they're worried about

  • "I don't know where to start."

We'll walk through the house with you—in person or by video—and lay out the work in order, so the first step is obvious.

  • "I'm afraid something important will be thrown out."

We agree on a keep list before anything leaves the house, and set aside photos, documents, and anything you've flagged for your review.

  • "I live too far away to do this myself."

Much of the work can happen without you on site, with updates at milestones you choose.

  • "My siblings and I need to agree."

One point of contact and clear updates make it easier for everyone to stay on the same page.

Your role as executor, and ours

As executor or personal representative, you decide what happens to the estate's property, often with guidance from an attorney. Our role is to carry out those decisions: sorting, packing family items, arranging donations, clearing the rest, and preparing the house for its next step.

We don't give legal, tax, or valuation advice. Probate rules differ by state, so when those questions come up, we'll pause and let you check with a Florida probate attorney or the right professional.

A typical path for settling the house

  • Secure the home and gather important documents
  • Let family members choose keepsakes
  • Arrange appraisal or sale of valuable items, if needed
  • Clear, donate, and remove the remaining contents
  • Clean and make minor repairs before listing

Questions

Questions executors ask before clearing a house

When should we start clearing the house?

Once the person with legal authority over the estate has approved it and the family has had a chance to choose keepsakes. If the estate is in probate, confirm the timing with the estate's attorney first.

Can you send the executor a record of what left the house?

Yes. We can photograph rooms before and after and keep donation receipts, which gives the executor a simple record to share with heirs or the attorney.

What if the house is in a gated community or condo?

Tell us the community name and we'll ask what the association needs, such as gate passes, elevator reservations, or proof of insurance, before we schedule.
